Golla looking into Asian markets with Japanese partner

The Finnish bag manufacturer Golla is starting up a partnership with the Japanese trading house Itochu Corporation.

Golla’s protective bags and carriers for laptops and other small electronics have earlier been available in Finnish electronics stores. The company is now using a pop-up store in downtown Helsinki to test a lifestyle concept that it intends to take to the global markets, according to Kauppalehti.

The company’s global reach will be boosted by its co-operation with the Japanese Itochu Corporation. Itochu is one of Japan’s largest multi-sector trading houses that sells mining, chemical, food and engineering industry products. The trading house is also a significant name in the fashion and lifestyle trade and has brought many western fashion brands to Asia.

Golla hopes that its partnership with Itochu will open new distribution routes in the fashion and lifestyle arena. In the future, the Finnish company’s goal is to establish concept stores in Asia with the help of Itochu and other partners.

Itochu is already familiar with Finland due to its one-quarter holding in Metsä Group’s pulp company Metsä Fibre.
